Experimental study on the evaluation of surfactant/polymer flooding for enhancing oil recovery in Kumkol Oil Field

Abstract Chemical enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods are shown to sweep the residual by altering physical properties of fluids after waterflooding improve recovery. This work presents an experimental study on surfactant/polymer injection for EOR in sandstone reservoirs. Interfacial tension measurements, emulsification and rheology tests performed select best candidates from thirteen commercial surfactants five polymers. The performance preferred surfactant polymer is evaluated through a series core flooding experiments both homogeneous heterogenous sand packs. Different schemes investigated. results show that polymer-surfactant-mixture slug can effectively displace as improves efficiency sweeping front. Core pack injecting first, followed yields better compared with combined pre-flush vertical conformance solution final
